The Top Ladies of Distinction (TLOD) is a national, non-profit organization dedicated to empowering and serving communities through various philanthropic and service-oriented activities. TLOD was founded in 1964 in Texas by eight African American women, Lady Willie Lee Glass, Lady Franchell Boswell, Lady Laverne R. Madlock, Lady Augusta Latham, Lady Ruth Payne Smith, Lady Ozell M. Dean, Lady Ina B. Brown and Lady Georgia Presswood Nelson, with the aim of addressing the social, educational, economic, and cultural needs of underprivileged individuals and communities.
